Chashma Nuclear Power Plant Unit-1 has completed a 427-day uninterrupted operating cycle, setting a new continuous-operation record for a Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission nuclear power plant, according to state news agency APP.

APP reported that the milestone was achieved during the plant's 18th operating cycle. It said the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission credited the performance to the Chashma Nuclear Power Generating Station team and to adherence to nuclear safety standards.

Record reported during Cycle 18

The report said Unit-1 recorded a World Association of Nuclear Operators performance indicator score of 100 in the first two quarters of 2026. Pak Pulse 247 could not independently verify the underlying WANO assessment.

PAEC operates six nuclear power plants with combined installed capacity of 3,530 megawatts, APP reported. The Chashma complex is near Mianwali and includes four operating units.

The reported record is an operational milestone, not a change in the plant's regulatory status. Pakistan's nuclear installations are regulated nationally by the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority. Read more verified Pakistan news coverage on Pak Pulse 247.
