DERA ISMAIL KHAN / ISLAMABAD — Pakistani security forces have eliminated eight militants affiliated with the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), officially designated as Fitna al-Khawarij, during a high-stakes intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to official security reports, the operation targeted a fortified militant hideout after verified intelligence confirmed the presence of an active terrorist cell orchestrating cross-district extortion and sabotage. Security personnel cordoned off the designated perimeter, engaging the hostile combatants in an intense exchange of gunfire that resulted in the neutralization of all eight militants, including three senior commanders responsible for coordinating logistical networks.
Arms Cache and Foreign Currency Recovered
Following the tactical clearing operation, troops discovered a significant cache of military-grade weapons, specialized night-vision equipment, communications gear, improvised explosive device (IED) components, and foreign currency from the subterranean hideout. Sanitization operations continued across adjacent agrarian ravines to eliminate any secondary ordnance or residual facilitation conduits.
The engagement follows broader counter-terrorism operations across regional sectors, where security forces neutralized over 71 terrorists during coordinated security sweeps aimed at dismantling organized militant networks and border transit routes.
Federal Leadership Reaffirms Azm-e-Istehkam Resolve
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi commended the professionalism, agility, and tactical precision demonstrated by the armed forces and intelligence operatives during the raid. In an official communique, Minister Naqvi emphasized that the federal government remains unyielding in its operational commitment to eradicate all extremist factions under the comprehensive Azm-e-Istehkam national security framework.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari also issued formal commendations praising the security forces for preempting catastrophic subversive schemes. State authorities affirmed that law enforcement agencies will sustain proactive intelligence-led sweeps throughout the southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to maintain regional stability and public safety.
